These are the vegan “shrimp & chicken” rolls at Vinh Loi Tofu. I’m not sure what exactly is in the dipping sauce, but I can tell you it’s damn good (especially when mixed with the chili paste!), as are the rolls of course. Along with the fake meaty bits, they are stuffed full of rice noodles, cilantro and other green leafy veggies.
This will be my last post for a few days as I’m heading back up north to the Bay Area for the holiday weekend. Rest assured there will be plenty of fantastic food from the exotic lands of Oakland and San Francisco to share with you upon my return. Have a great Memorial Day and long weekend!

I finally got to try Vinh Loi Tofu today! An omni friend and I shared a soup w/ “chicken” and noodles (the first soup listed on the menu, but I was never a seafood eater before turning veg and don’t care for the faux versions), veggie spring rolls, the #6 (a “chicken,” tofu, and noodle dish), and pandan pudding for dessert. We finished the soup, but carried out a spring roll, half the noodle dish, and all but 2 bites of the dessert (I didn’t care for it). I loved the atmosphere and the owner and even bought some groceries. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to this neighborhood gem!
I can’t believe I’ve never been to Vinh Loi Tofu. I’m wildly obsessed with the idea. That’s the place that makes their own tofu right? I need to plan me a trip to Reseda.
vegyogini: Wow, I’m so glad you got to go there! I consider this place one of L.A. best kept vegan secrets (I’m doing my best to spread the word)! I haven’t tried any of their faux-seafood yet (not a fan of the real stuff myself either) but the noodle dish (the udon) is my favorite. The pandan desert is a little weird at first, but I think the taste grows on you. Next time, try the plain version of the desert with the ginger sauce… YUM!!! Their vegan cake is super tasty too.
Trina: Yes, they have their very own tofu factory right behind the restaurant. It’s so cool knowing that what you are eating has been made freshly made, and by people who are vegans themselves. For sure, if you are in the vacinity, make the trek to Reseda!
